FAQs

GENERAL INFORMATION

Is my donation or sponsorship tax-deductible?

Yes!  The Cheeseletes is a group of individuals volunteering their time to organize fundraising events for other nonprofit organizations in the cheese industry.  The management of their funds is conducted and housed under United Charitable, a 501(c)3 non-profit.  Any contribution or sponsorship made to The Cheeseletes is deposited into their United Charitable account and is eligible for a tax deduction.  Ticket or item purchases made directly to a Cheeseletes fundraiser where a good or service is received are not eligible for a tax deduction.

Who do I contact if I have a question or need help?

Please email us at admin@thecheeseletes.org. Also, fill out the form on our Lend a Hand page.

How does the money I raise help people in the cheese community?

The money raised is immediately donated to select cheese industry non-profits and education groups that provide seminars, scholarships, internships, and education resources to members of the cheese community. Our team takes into consideration current demands in the cheese community when deciding who will benefit from our events.

FINANCE QUESTIONS

What is the difference between being a donor or sponsor?

A “donor” gives money directly to The Cheeseletes to assist in their operating costs – such as website development, office supplies, and accounting fees.  These are eligible for a tax deduction.  A “donor” can also give money on behalf of a Cheeseletes event, either by participating directly or donating on behalf of a participant.  These are also eligible for a tax deduction.  A “sponsor” gives money directly to The Cheeseletes to assist in the overhead costs of a specific event – such as the annual 5k - and receives marketing perks depending on the sponsorship level.  These are eligible for a tax deduction.

How can my corporation or family participate?

We are always looking for corporate sponsors for our event to assist in covering the overhead costs of putting them on.  We offer numerous sponsorship levels and are happy to accept both monetary and in-kind gifts.  Visit our Lend a Hand page to contact us for more details.

Your family can get involved several ways.

  • You can register to participate in our events.

  • You can donate on behalf of your participation in our events.

  • You can contribute funds directly to The Cheeseletes to help us continue the work we do of organizing events.

  • You can spread the word via social media.
