Cheese Camp

Jasper Hill Farm is an award-winning artisanal cheese producer in Greensboro, VT committed to making the the highest possible quality products in a way that supports Vermont's working landscape. Grantees will attend "Cheese Camp", participating in about 8 hours of presented educational content and about 8 hours of immersive observation of the farm/cropping, cheesemaking and affinage done at Jasper Hill Farm and the Cellars of Jasper Hill. Selected grantees will be given up to $2,000 to spend as needed to get to Greensboro and/or cover expenses related to taking time off. No record of how the funds will be used is required. Must be at least 21 years of age and a US resident to apply.

  • Will housing be provided? Yes

  • Will meals be provided? Yes

  • Will on-site transportation be provided? Yes

  • Is a driver’s license required? No, but grantees may need one to get from the airport to the farm

  • Will grantees be compensated? No

  • Will prior training be required? 6 months experience in any field within the cheese industry

  • Will the grantee be working alone/self-guided? No

  • When will the grantee visit? 2 days/3 nights during the late summer, early winter 2024

Cheese Production Internship

Uplands Cheese is an award-winning raw-milk farmstead artisanal cheese producer in Dodgeville, Wisconsin specializing in seasonal cheeses that represent strong animal husbandry and high quality-milk. Grantees will make cheese with Andy Hatch during “Rush Creek Reserve” season for 8 weeks, participating in cheesemaking, affinage and packing orders. Selected grantees will be given $2,000 to spend as needed to get to Dodgeville and/or cover expenses related to taking time off. Additionally, grantees will be paid an hourly wage by Uplands Cheese. No record of how the funds will be used is required. Must be 21 years of age and a US resident to apply.

  • Will prior training be required? 1 year experience in any field within the cheese industry
